Why I Built Tradie

I’m Andrew Freeman — a builder born and raised in Maine. I built my career on job sites, swinging the hammer, running crews, and growing a residential construction company the hard way: early mornings, late nights, and weather that doesn’t care about deadlines.

Anyone in the trades knows this work isn’t really about lumber or steel — it’s about people. Trust. Showing up. Doing what you said you would do. Yet we still rely on word-of-mouth, group chats, and “know anybody?” texts to fill critical labor needs.

That system is breaking. Schedules slip, clients get frustrated, and good builders burn out. Every other industry has modern workforce tools — the trades deserve the same. So I built one.

Tradie is the workforce network for professional tradespeople and contractors. Built by tradespeople, for tradespeople. No gig-economy gimmicks — just a platform for pros to connect, fill labor gaps fast, and keep jobs moving.

What Tradie does-

Builders fill labor needs quickly

Trades get steady work and build reputation

Projects stay on schedule

Verified profiles, job feed, messaging, scheduling & availability tools

Coming soon: background checks, trade-school pipelines, supplier tools, workforce analytics.

Tradie didn’t come from a tech lab. It came from muddy boots, pickup dashboards, lumberyard conversations, and 5:30 a.m. “is he coming?” texts. If it works in Maine — where reputation is earned with calloused hands — it will work anywhere.

Our values-

Show up. Work hard. Communicate. Respect the craft. Stand by your work.

A generation is retiring. Demand is rising. The trades are evolving — and we deserve modern tools built for us.

If you take pride in clean framing lines, tight schedules, and jobs done right the first time, this is for you.

How Can I Contribute?

Tradie isn’t launched yet —

because we’re building it the right way:
with tradespeople, not tech outsiders.

The trades deserve a modern workforce platform built by those who live the early mornings, the weather, the deadlines, and the responsibility of doing the job right.

And right now, we’re in the development and funding phase — shaping Tradie so it serves our industry for decades to come.

If you're here, it means you believe in the trades, in craftsmanship, and in the next generation. Here’s how you can help bring Tradie to life.

1. Join the Founding Waitlist

Be one of the first inside.

Founding waitlist members get:

  • Priority access at launch
  • Early beta invitations
  • Input on features and tools
  • Founding-member recognition

Signing up says one thing loud and clear:
The trades want this.

2. Share the Mission

Tradie will grow the same way crews grow — through trust, reputation, and word-of-mouth.

Tell:

  • Your crew
  • Quality subs
  • Apprentices and up-and-comers
  • Retired pros who still care about the craft
  • Supplier reps and trade-school instructors

One message builds momentum. Ten messages build a movement.

3. Help Shape the Platform

Before we launch, we’re talking directly with:

  • Builders
  • Tradespeople
  • Apprentices
  • Suppliers
  • Training programs

Share what tools the industry really needs:

  • What slows jobs down?
  • What wastes time?
  • What hiring challenges hurt most?
  • What feature would change your work week?

Tradie is being designed from the field up.

4. Become a Founding Supporter

We are currently raising capital to finish development and launch across Maine — then scale.

Ways to support:

  • Become a founding financial backer
  • Connect us with aligned investors
  • Sponsor features or apprenticeships
  • Partner as a supplier or industry brand

If you believe the trades deserve better technology, this is your moment to help build it — literally.

5. Support the Next Generation

The future of the trades depends on people, not apps.

You can contribute by:

  • Recommending apprentices
  • Connecting trade-school leaders
  • Sharing this with young builders
  • Offering mentorship when we launch mentorship tools

Tradie is about strengthening the workforce — and the culture that built it.

The Trades Build Everything. Now We Build for the Trades.

We work in weather, in mud, on deadlines, under pressure.
We solve problems for a living — and now we’re solving one for ourselves.

Your voice, your signup, your share, your support — it all matters.

Thank you for believing in this mission early.

Join. Share. Support. Build.

The future of the trades is coming — and you’ll be able to say you helped build it.
